Heart Eyes Galore!!

Do you see how pretty she is?
Her name is "Cran-tastic"

but I just want to call her "Sparkling Red Carpet" because she is all sorts of  Glamorous.
Or, I would name her Ruby Red Slippers. Get it? Dorothy.
Moving along. As with all Color Street nail polish strips, application is as easy as peel-stick-repeat.
Click the image to watch a video of how I applied mine.
And Get yours before they're gone because the styles are always changing.

Best Basecoat: Orly Bonder

4/16/2021

{No affiliation. Just sharing the nail love.}
Picture
Pictured: Orly Bonder Basecoat

meet my new "Bestie"

Orly's Bonder is the BEST Basecoat I have ever painted on my nails.
I'm not even exaggerating.
I frequent Orly's "Polish Parties" for great deals, but I only spring for cute colors and top coats.
Never a basecoat. Why? Because few live up to the long-wear promise. So I use whatever is in my stash.
Picture
Orly Spring 2021 Collection: Day Trippin'

the best surprise

Inside my seasonal Color Pass from Orly, there was a freebie, Orly Bonder Basecoat. Ding Ding Ding. Winner!!
Anyway, I spent the next month testing each nail color from Orly's Spring 2021 Collection, "Day Trippin.'"
Why a month? Because (1.) Yes. I am that obsessive, and (2.) I like to see how well nail polish holds up against my daily routine.
Picture
Orly "Bonder", "Kitsch You Later" & "Glosser"

& here's what happened

I'm usually happy if a color can make it to day three without chipping. But Orly Bonder based manicures lasted over 7 days. Wait. What?
So, I read the label. And this is a RUBBBERIZED basecoat. Sheer genious. literally.
My next manicure lasted 10 days before one nail chipped... a little bit. And that's when Orly's Bonder Basecoat became one of my "Besties."

Orly Spring 2021 Collection: Day Trippin'

3/21/2021

{More nail love. No affiliation}
Spring is in the air and hot new nail colors are everywhere. I barely have enough fingers to try them all.
But I will "suffer" through the arduous task to make sure that when your digits need a splash of color, you'll know which nail colors love brown skin.
Ready to meet Orly's Spring 2021 Collection?
Then let's go Day Trippin'
Picture
Pictured: "Kitch You Later"

"Kitsch You Later"

She was my maybe. Now she’s my baby.
This creme orange glides on in just two coats with amazing coverage and NO STREAKS.
Actually, every nail lacquer in this collection offers creamy formulas with a no streak finish in just two coats.
Picture
Pictured: "Here Comes The Sun"

"Here Comes the Sun"

I'm calling her the best shade of yellow. The mustardy edge on this bright hue tones it down without losing boldness.
This is actually my favorite color in the collection. And I would even take this color into fall with me. Because rainy days will always welcome “Here Comes The Sun.”
Picture
Pictured: "Happy Camper"

"Happy Camper"

"Happy Camper" is a marshmallow-y take on the iconic blue box blue.
I was most excited about this color when unboxing the Orly Color Pass because she has a charming way of winking fun while whispering delicate elegance.
This color also reminds me of a posh little nail shop and the sweetest friend who became a top nail artist. But that's another story for another day.
Picture
Pictured: "Can You Dig It?"

"Can you dig it?"

By now, you've noticed that I adore bright colors. This beauty is for those of you who haven't committed to the idea of rocking a hot pink or blue... yet.
This eye-catching neutral is a bold, ruddy mauve with a low key vibe.
I love the way she fits every occassion. Whether at the office, hanging with the girls, the guy, or the family, this splash of color matches everything.
Picture
Pictured: "Let the Good Times Roll"

"Let the Good Times Roll"

Moment of truth. I didn't expect to love this color, but I do. I call her the Spring renegade because not everyone wants to live in pastel like a precious Easter egg.
And “Let the Good Times Roll” gives us all a nice change of pace. She's rich and luxurious and glides on like a dream. Let's invite the good times to keep rolling because this color is gorgeous on brown skin.
Picture
Pictured: "Feeling Foxy"

"Feeling Foxy"

And finally, if the little black dress were a manicure, she'd be "Feeling Foxy."
This deep, alluring lacquer is every kind of beautiful. Chic, effortless style in a tiny bottle of happy.
I forgot how pretty dark colors could be until I met "Feeling Foxy."
She is the 'it' list.
It's hard to go wrong with Orly's Spring 2021 Collection. All six colors are vibrant and compliment brown skin beautifully. The yellows are mustardy, the mauves are ruddy, and the brights are well toned. No matter which color you choose, it'll love your brown skin.

How to Remove Glitter & No Chip Polish

2/23/2021

Picture

After the love chips...

I love glitters and mixed manis with layered strips of eye-catching nail colors.
Until it’s time to remove the nail polish. 😣
Layers of polish and glitters tend to be a little on the stubborn side. They can take forever to remove with just nail polish remover and cotton.
Picture

Make a clean break

This nail salon trick can make your at home nail polish removal a piece of cake.
You will need:
  • cotton
  • aluminum foil
  • and nail polish remover
Click here to watch a video tutorial on how to remove stubborn nail polish. Step-by-step process detailed below.

For Glitters & Polish Strips Removal

STEP 1: Saturate cotton in nail polish remover. I prefer a polish remover with acetone. Works faster.
STEP 2: Place remover soaked cotton on top of nail.
STEP 3: Use foil paper to secure cotton in place over nail.
STEP 4: Wait 5-10 minutes to allow polish remover to penetrate and weaken nail polish bond.
STEP 5: Press, Squeeze, and Pull. Nail polish will slide right off with the cotton. Just be careful not to cut yourself while twisting the foil. This writer learned that the hard way... ouch!!

For No Chip Removal

First, buff the top coat of polish with a nail file. This will help the acetone to penetrate the layers of no chip.
Proceed with STEPS 1-5 above.
  • But use pure acetone (not to be confused with a nail polish remover that has acetone)
  • And wait 10-15 minutes before sliding off cotton foil wraps. The no chip mani will generally need more time to release the bond than a glitter nail polish.
STEP 6: Use an orange wood stick to gently push away any residue.
Now, your  nails are ready for the next gorgeous nail color!!

The Easiest Way to Polish Your Own Nails

2/2/2021

The Other Hand Will Never Be a Problem Again

{New Favorite!! No affiliation.}
Picturemy easy-to-polish LEFT hand
Pictured: Midnight in Manhattan (an ultra glossy black) paired with Swiss and Tell (white) hiding Between the Lines (clear striped).

So my girl since forever, Shannon, gifted me these gems, and I just had to blab about them.
Why? Because they are real nail polish in strips minus the wet.
AND they were so easy to apply.
Peel, Stick, Instant Glam.

(Picture tutorial below.)
Would you believe I achieved this manicure during the day while my little ones were awake?
Lots of Mommy this and Mommy that. BUT Mommy got it all done without smudging her manicure.
AND pause. Check out my other hand.
Picture& my STUNNING other hand (RIGHT)
Pictured: A sleeker style with Midnight in Manhatten (a liquid latex-look black) coupled with Underground Magic (a deep black that bursts into a shimmery silver glitter).

This is my other hand. You know, the dominant one that's impossible to paint because the non dominant hand hasn't quite learned the art of control. {But why would she? It's not her day job.}
My other hand did not require an extra 30 minutes to paint base coat, color coat, and then top coat like traditional nail polish. Nope. It was easy peasy with colorSTREET. PEEL. STICK. REPEAT.
And after all that simple beauty, there was a big bonus...
No dry time. I finished my nails and went straight into preparing a meal for the boys and checking their homework. No waiting and again, because I can't say this enough, there were  No smudges.

The moment I fell in love...

And stayed in love was when my manicure held up for 14 whole days. Deep gasp. I was able to get 2 week nails at home with no lamps or special gel polishes.
The only problem I had was forcing myself to wait the 2 entire weeks before trying a new style. And when I did, I tried them all at once in a mixed manicure. There are endless mixes that you can match to your heart's desire. I'm eying Chilladelphia under Between the Lines for my next mani.
Picture
Picture
Day 1 :  Fell in love with 'Between the Lines.' She would be gorgeous with a bold yellow and hot pink mixed mani.

Picture
Day 14: Waited and waited for the polish strips to chip off, but it stayed on like a no chip mani. No lamp needed.

Pictured: Swiss and Tell (white), Coming up Rose Gold (clear glitter ombre), Moscow or Never (copper), and Between the Lines (clear striped).

And here is a video of my very first colorSTREET sample trial.
I loved how easy it was to apply my two nail strips and almost forgot I had to let the rest of my nails dry.
Did my wet polished nails smudge? YES!! Again, mommy duty won and both thumbs and an index finger smudged shortly after this picture.
