meet the Original Broomstick Master
Every time I think about the #BroomChallenge, remember Turbo from Breakin' commanding the broom masterfully as he swept the sidewalk.
Breaking is a New Olympic Sport
Turbo, Michael Chambers, is still pop-locking today. Dubbed the Boogaloo Shrimp by his sister, Chambers allegedly taught the Michael Jackson how to Moonwalk. It was said that Michael Jackson was so impressed with Chambers’ moves that he became a student of the master. Well, at least for the backslide dubbed the infamous Moonwalk. In his documentary on Amazon Prime (linked in the boom box below), Turbo walks us through how he actually made his broom stick stand. There’s also some fishing wire in the mix, but I bet it’s safe to say that we have found the OG of the Broom Stick challenge.
The #BroomstickChallenge makes me want to see this cool movie from the 80s remade. And why not?
The Best Part of Breakin' 2
My favorite scene was from Breakin' 2 Electric Boogaloo when the bulldozer came to tear down the beloved community center. The ultimate battle of break dancers versus bulldozers ensued. Guess who won. Or click to watch below.
Since Break dancing has windmilled its way into an Olympic sport and Turbo is the original master of the Broom Challenge, I motion that the movie Breakin' be remade for all to love again. All in favor, "say aye." All opposed, "say aye," too.
